Not the Year of the Rat – China’s Pest Management Market Infested with Opportunity

An increasing focus on encouraging domestic consumption, potentiated by upcoming new and transformative pesticides thm_30184registration standards, suggests robust opportunities for the pest-control sector in China. China’s reorientation from an industrial/export-reliant economy to a service/domestic-consumption one is advancing rapidly, with The Economist recently reporting that the country’s relatively small service-sector output is expected to exceed the county’s mighty industrial production within this year.

According to Kline’s soon to be published Global Professional Pest Management Markets for Pesticides: Market Analysis and Opportunities, total non-agricultural pest control service sales in China in 2012 alone are estimated at CNY 3 billion to CNY 4 billion (USD  476 million to USD 635 million), with pesticides sales expected to grow annually by 6.7%. Crop Protection Sales Remain Strong in 2012

According to Kline & Company’s Crop Protection Manufacturers Report, U.S. crop protection sales rose 9.5% over the previous year, totaling $8.0 billion in net manufacturers’ level sales in 2012. Many Imagemacro-economic factors, essential for a strong market remained in place, as above-average commodity prices, along with positive global demographic changes, economic growth, and rising standards of living, drove optimism within agricultural markets prior and into 2012. Generic Manufacturers’ Sales Up, Market Share Down

hGeneric manufacturers’ sales within the U.S. crop protection chemical industry for all markets grew 6.7% during the 2012 year, according to Kline’s annual Generic Manufacturers Report. Stellar Year for U.S. Crop Protection Chemical Distributors in 2011 with Positive Outlook Ahead

The U.S. crop protection chemical industry experienced a 6.9% increase in the net distributor sales level during 2011, according to the recent report Leading Distributors in the U.S. Crop Protection Industry: A Strategic Market Analysis by global consulting and research firm Kline & Company. Kline wins Agrow Award for Best Supporting Role

Last night at the Marriott Hotel in London there was a prestigious awards ceremony to honor corporate and individual excellence in the crop protection and production industry. Kline won the 2011 Agrow Award for ‘best supporting role’, i.e. best service provider to the industry. Our submission is attached. We were in good company, with Dow Chemical winning the award for the Best Novel Agricultural Biotechnology category.

This is great recognition of our positioning and offerings both on the KMC and KMR sides of our business, with many people contributing to our success. Well done, everyone! We’re now going to figure out how to leverage this to maximize our exposure in the industry.
